Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Who can play?
Any boy or girl born after August 1, 2005 and who is at least 4 years old, and less than 16 years old as of August 1, 2011.
2. What are the registration requirements?
Complete Ironbound Boys and Girls Club application, copy of Birth Certificate/Passport, 2 Pictures, and the appropriate registration fee. The registration fee for the Indoor League is $100. The combined registration fee for Indoor and Spring Recreation is $200.
3. What will I receive with the registration?
Membership to the Ironbound Boys and Girls Club, participation in the Indoor (Winter) and recreation league (Spring), a soccer uniform (Shirt/Shorts) and an award.
4. What is the difference between the Indoor League (Winter) and the Recreational League (Spring)?
The Indoor League (Winter) will be played at the Ironbound Boys and Girls Club at 11 Providence Street, on Saturdays and Sunday from January through March. Any boy or girl born August 1, 2005, and who is at least 4 years old may play. (U-4 to U-16)
The Recreational League (Spring) will be played at Riverbank Park and Independence Park on Saturdays from March through June. Any boy or girl born August 1, 2005, and who is at least 4 years old may play. (U-4 to U-14) Times vary depending on ages, and number or participates. When making the schedule we try to take into consideration ethnic schools, religion classes, swimming class, karate however we cannot accommodate all of the extra activities. Please let us know if your child is involved in extra activities upon registration.
5. When and where are practices?
Practices are held after school, at gyms or parks in the area.
6. How are teams chosen?
There will be tryouts/practice games in December to evaluate players. These practice games will be held on the saturdays in December (December 10, 17). Players will be placed based on age and/or skill level. Teams for the Recreational League will be readjusted to incorporate any added registrants.
7. My child has never played will he/she sit the bench?
Our rules make it mandatory that all players play, no matter their skill level or experience.
8. When will my child receive their uniform?
Uniforms will be given prior to their first game. All participants must wear shin guards, socks covering the shin guards, and sneakers or indoor shoes. No cleats are allowed to be used indoors. Cleats are allowed in the parks during Recreational Leagues.
9. How will my child find out what team and who their coach is?
Information will be posted on the website: www.ironboundsoccer.com. Also, your coach will call you prior to your first practice.
10. When will my child receive their awards?
Awards for the Indoor League will be distributed at the Annual Awards Dinner (Date to be Announced). There will also be an Awards Ceremony for the Recreational League (Date to be Announced).
11. How can my child play on a travel team?
The travel coaches are in constant contact with the indoor and recreational coaches regarding players. If a player is recommended to play on a travel team, he/she will be invited to a tryout with the particular team. Fees for the travel program are separate from the indoor/recreational programs.
